STOP Youth Presentation at NUMA Elementary

The Churchill Community Coalition staff and the High School Organization, Students Taking On Prevention (S.T.O.P.) Presented to 60 youth at Numa Elementary School on Wednesday Feb. 10, educating them about the dangers of substance abuse. The students led an interactive educational training to Numa students teaching them about the effects of tobacco and marijuana abuse, while the Coalition staff did a short presentation on prescription drug and over the counter drug abuse and safe handling of medications.
The S.T.O.P. teens led an interactive experience which introduced all the chemicals in tobacco, as well as serious illness, cancer, and death rates of tobacco users every year. They have a set of real life cow lungs that they use to demonstrate the effects of smoking on the lungs. The S.T.O.P. teens were also able to show the kids a look through the lens of Marijuana with their state of the art marijuana goggles. With these goggles the S.T.O.P. teens are able to show how debilitating marijuana is on your mind, vision, and body.
